10 month African Trails epic adventure: It's all over!

Well the trip has finished and I'm back in Blighty! But I can't be arsed finishing the blog for between Cairo and Istanbul. I'll try to get around to it soon but right now I'm just going to chill for a while.

SUN PRINCESS-1: Introduction

I've been on the Sun Princess for almost 8 months now and I'm nearly finished with my current contract. I've really loved almost everything about this ship. It's a friendly ship with a good atmosphere among the entertainment department and I've enjoyed working with every band member who has worked here. The fact is that in my time here I've seen 4 sax players, 4 trumpet players, 2 trombonists, 4 pianists, 5 bassists and 2 drummers come and go (including the ones that are already here now). Since the band consists of only 7 musicians in it at any one time including myself this certainly suggests that I've been here far too long! However I must admit it doesn't feel like it, perhaps it's just because I've been having such a good time.

So far we've gone around Australia, up to South East Asia, On a 75 day Pacific world cruise and we're currently in the middle of a 1 month cruise around the utterly idyllic South Pacific and it's sublime tropical islands. I've seen the Great Wall of China, the temples of Kyoto, the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, the Markets of Shanghai, The Great Barrier Reef, the literally perfect island of Bora Bora and...you know what, I can't sum it all up here, it would take far too long. I'm sure I'll dedicate a couple of retrospective chapters to my time on the ship but right now I'm going to ride out the rest of my contract which still has over 3 weeks to go. We've got over a dozen south pacific paradise islands to visit including French Polynesia (again!), Fiji, Tonga, Samoa and more!
