So what makes this 'end of Part 1'? Well I wanted to break the trip up into segments and this seems the logical place for a break since we're losing one member of the group and picking up two others. Craig flew home from Accra back to London and our two new arrivals, Martin and Mike, also joined from the same place. There are several places where we will be dropping off and picking up others so these places seeem as good as any to take a look back at the trip so far.So we've covered quite an awful lot of ground in the last ten weeks but we're not even a quarter of the way through the entire trip! We've endured vain attempts to have carpets sold to us in Morocco, seen amazing scenery, The Atlas Mountains, the Niger River, the incredible Dogon Country, stunning beaches, hot sandy deserts, sweaty crowded nightclubs, been attacked by baboons and even seen a wild elephant. And we've barely scratched the surface of this great continent. We haven't even begun to experience isolation from civilisation, lack of decent food or the danger of being in a country that our own government warn against any travel to, those are all to come. But what's the rush, we're not exactly in a hurry. Time to kick back, relax, and wait for the adventure to come. And have a couple of beers while I'm at it!
